Michel Forgeron is a family estate based in Segonzac, at the heart of Grande Champagne, the most prestigious cru of Cognac. Unlike large négociant houses, Forgeron produces Cognac entirely from its own vineyards—distilled and aged on-site, preserving full estate identity.

The chalk-rich soils of Grande Champagne are known for producing eaux-de-vie with exceptional aging capacity. Over extended maturation in French oak barrels, the spirit gradually develops tertiary aromas and the sought-after rancio character—nutty, earthy, and gently oxidative notes that signify true maturity.

“Vieille Réserve” (Old Reserve) typically indicates a blend of long-aged eaux-de-vie, positioned stylistically between XO and very old prestige bottlings. Time in oak refines texture, softens the spirit’s edges, and enhances aromatic complexity while maintaining Grande Champagne finesse.
