Coutanseaux Aîné stands among the great houses that shaped the golden age of Cognac. Founded in Jarnac in 1767, the Maison was one of the earliest négociants to export French brandy to the royal courts of Europe. From the rolling chalky hills of the Grande Champagne and Petite Champagne crus, its legacy was built on purity, patience, and the art of long maturation.
The XXO (Extra Extra Old) expression represents the rarest tier of the house’s craft — a blend of eaux-de-vie aged a minimum of 14 years, though many in this cuvée rest far longer in old Limousin oak casks. Each barrel tells a story of quiet evolution: the spirit breathing through oak grain, exchanging air, and gaining the deep amber hue and complex bouquet that only time can bestow.
