Monnet XXO Cognac (700 ml)

Founded in 1838 in Jarnac, Monnet is one of the historic Cognac houses known for its precision blending and long cellar maturation. The house philosophy centers on balance, aromatic finesse, and patience in aging.

The XXO (Extra Extra Old) designation, officially recognized in 2018, requires a minimum aging of 14 years in oak casks. In practice, many XXO blends contain eaux-de-vie significantly older than the legal minimum. Monnet XXO reflects this extended maturation philosophy, where time in French oak allows the spirit to develop profound tertiary complexity and velvety integration.

Long aging encourages the emergence of rancio character—a hallmark of very mature Cognac—expressed through nutty, earthy, and dried fruit nuances. Oak interaction contributes structure and spice while evaporation over decades (“the angels’ share”) concentrates texture and depth.

The result is a Cognac built for contemplation: less about youthful intensity, more about layered evolution.
