Domaine de Jaurrey is one of the estates associated with the Laberdolive family, a revered name in Bas-Armagnac known for traditional single-vintage bottlings and long cask maturation. Unlike Cognac, where blending is common, vintage Armagnac such as this 1946 release is distilled in a single year and aged slowly in oak barrels for decades before bottling.

Bas-Armagnac, the most prestigious subregion of Armagnac, is characterized by sandy, iron-rich soils known locally as sables fauves. These soils produce spirits with remarkable aromatic intensity and long aging capacity. The region’s single distillation in continuous Armagnac stills preserves more congeners than double-distilled Cognac, resulting in deeper texture and more rustic complexity.
