Baron de Sigognac is a historic Bas-Armagnac estate rooted in Gascony, known for estate-distilled and long-aged Armagnacs that emphasize authenticity and regional identity.

Bas-Armagnac is widely regarded as the most prestigious subregion of Armagnac, thanks to its sandy, iron-rich sables fauves soils. These soils produce aromatic eaux-de-vie with strong aging potential.

Armagnac is traditionally distilled once in a continuous still, preserving more congeners than double-distilled Cognac. This results in a spirit with fuller body and greater aromatic complexity—qualities that become more refined over time.

The XO designation (Extra Old) indicates extended aging in French oak barrels. While regulations require a minimum of 10 years (modern standard), Sigognac XO Platinum typically reflects longer maturation, allowing oak integration and the gradual development of tertiary rancio character.
